Christmas > Chaos

Christmas > Chaos

Hello sweet people!

Christmas is only a few days away so I decided to do the obvious... Christmas blog!!!

If you know me well, you know one thing, I like to be raw & real, transparent perhaps.

So, I'm gonna start off and just say, the holidays are tough sometimes. For some, these time are the happiest times of the year, for others; the most painful. Christmas time can be tough for those of us that are single, dealing with the loss of a loved one, less fortunate, etc...

The society of 2016 puts a sense of "need" in our hearts for a significant other during the holiday season. Society also idolizes family, friends and presents during this time of the year. First off, notice the word I used; IDOLIZE.

  1. admire, revere, or love greatly or excessively

Right off the bat, we've got it all wrong. The first commandment Jesus gave us was to never idolize something before Him. Doing this, idolizing these things, leaves us lonely, hurt and confused with why we're really celebrating.

Now, hear me when I say I love each one of these things with all my heart. I love love, family, presents and friends. But when we put our worth in these things, we're living in and through the things of this world. Greater is He Who is living in me that he who is in the world, right?

No matter how brutal this may sound; family, friends, presents, your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse... these things are all TEMPORARY. They don't matter or even compare to your ETERNAL relationship and life with Jesus Christ once our flesh is left on this earth.

If Christmas seems chaotic to you right now, its because you need to slow down and realize what the holiday hype is really all about.

Scratch that, IF LIFE seems chaotic to you right now; Take a step back and remind yourself that what you have and who you're with is all temporary in regards to your eternity.

We are celebrating the BIRTH OF JESUS, OUR SAVIOR, the One Who died for us in which the only way we could ever be close to repaying Him is to live for Him.

And if you don't know Jesus this Christmas, I encourage you to reach out to someone who does so that you will value your righteousness rather than the ribbon and your ETERNITY over the eggnog.

My prayer for all of us, is that we would realize that Jesus, the Prince Of Peace surpasses all presents under the tree. I promise when you look back, you won't remember the whirlwind or the wrapping paper, but only the peace you have in knowing that on this day. 2,000 years ago, in a tiny stable, OUR HOPE WAS BORN.

His name is Jesus, and He will forever be greater than the chaos.

I wish you all the happiest, most peaceful Christmas.

Remember why you're celebrating.

In Christ Alone,

Lauren M
