"Powerful" - Guest Post W/ JOANNA
A few weeks ago, I was DM'd by an incredibly talented, beautiful artist from Nashville, TN; JOANNA.
Side note... some people go on and on about all of the negatives about the social media generation... but COME ON. Instagram and blogging hands me the most amazing encounters with the coolest people.
She had come across my "13 Reasons Why NOT" blog and we found common ground in our hearts behind suicide prevention and mental health awareness. JOANNA then continued to tell me about this video she made regarding these topics. The video is titled "POWERFUL" and y'all, it is that and so much more.
Before you click on the video, I asked her what led her to make this video and this was her beautiful, raw, TRANSPARENT response:
Q: "What made you do the video “Powerful”? What do you want to accomplish with the video and what will it do for your music career?"
A: “The very thing that brought me to music was my experiences, from good to bad. This isn't about branding or promoting my music. My "brand" ultimately, is me. I want to do things that scare me which includes being open, raw and real. That will make me vulnerable, yes, but it’s more important to me that people know they’re not alone. One thing I've learned from my experiences in mental health, is we are not alone. So many people think they experience these ‘weird’ thoughts, or emotions, and think they can’t tell anyone, because no one would understand that...but the truth is, is so many people suffer from similar things. When I started to allow myself to share things that terrified me, I had so many moments of people responding not in "your weird wow" but “ME TOO!”, or “I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!” Thing is...is we are not alone in our struggles and we are stronger together. I want to start breaking down the walls that separate us.”
HOW BEAUTIFUL is her sweet soul!! I encourage you friends, watch her video. She is incredibly talented and also linked below is all of her social media: check her out!! She is incredible and I'm thanking Jesus for this new friend and partner in this battle against bullying and suicide.
